South Bay area artist, Nancy Barry-Jansson, enjoys frequent walks throughout the open spaces of the San Francisco Bay area. Wishing to honor the beauty of these open spaces, Barry-Jansson also sought a way to give back artistically and financially to the land she has grown to love. Thus was born the initial concept for Artists for Open Space. Barry-Jansson has joined with other Bay Area artists Elaine Frenett, Linda Tapscott, Jean Warren, Nancy Wulff, and Floy Zittin, to form Artists for Open Space. Creating art inspired by nature, each artist donates 20% of their profits to organizations that acquire or maintain open space. Now, art buyers can give back to their community when they purchase art shown on this site. "Most artists are inspired by nature, so it seemed natural to create an opportunity for artists to give back to their source of inspiration. By donating a percentage from the sale of creations inspired by the beauty of nature, regional artists can actively support the continued acquisition and preservation of open space." says Barry-Jansson, "Nature belongs to everyone, and we must make it a priority to save these precious open spaces for all to enjoy."
